Our Travels

Nothing like waiting 'til the last minute!

Eric and I decided we ought to have another family picture taken and his co-worker just so happens to be into photography and has a backdrop with all the necessary equipment. So we scheduled to have it done last Saturday. I didn't notice until Thursday that both Keenan and I needed our hair done. Keenan got his cut on Thursday but, because I needed someone to watch Keenan I couldn't get mine done until Saturday. Argh! I must be a glutton for punishment. The last time I had my hair done a lady came to our house and spent close to 5 hours on it, now I was going to somebody brand new and she doesn't speak English. I had my neighbor's housekeeper call to make the appointment and tell the stylist (same one who cuts both Keenan and Eric's hair) what I wanted done.

On Saturday morning we decided to go out to Pyrohova for an arts and craft fair with a couple that is new to Kyiv. There were lots of fun arts and crafts to look at but we had to hustle back in order to make my hair appointment. After 2 hours Anya finished highlighting and cutting my hair. It is now very blond but overall I think she did a good job and she was cheap... even better! As luck would have it though, my curling iron decided that Saturday was a good day to die. After a little pleading with Eric he went out and bought me a new one, he even managed to buy the correct size and one with a little travel bag. Good job, Eric! Yeah, so all three of us with our new haircuts went to get our picture taken. I could have swore when I left the house my hair looked cute, the pictures on the other hand tell a different story. In some of the pictures my hair is going everywhere, some flipped up... some straight. Sigh... As least Eric and Keenan had a photogenic day.

We tried to get some pictures of Keenan in his traditional Ukrainian shirt that our babysitter's grandmother made but, Keenan was having none of it. He did not want to sit alone and smile.

Here are some of the three of us.

Keenan is looking like such a little boy. Is that the tradtional Ukrainian shirt he has on? If not I want to see it! your hair is very blond, it looks good even if it wasn't quite cooperating with you! Darn hair anyway!
