Independence Day!

It was a busy weekend for us. On Saturday the American Chamber of Commerce hosted a big 4th of July picnic. We showed up around 4pm and for Keenan this meant free ice cream, lots of kids and free unlimited rides on a small choo choo train, swings, and a few other mechanical toys. For me and Eric this meant lots of chasing after a sugar loaded kid. The kid pretty much went non-stop from 4pm until around 10 when he just wiped out. We left right before they started doing the fireworks but I feel I didn't miss out on much because here in Kyiv people seem to light off big fireworks nightly. I'm fairly certain he rode on the train at least 20-30 times, I really didn't mind because that meant I did not have to chase after him, I could rest for a bit. I haven't downloaded our pictures yet but I did go to the American Chamber of Commerce, Ukraine site and "borrowed" a couple of theirs since Keenan seems to be a magnet for cameras. You can check out the pictures on the site, which Keenan has the main picture at http://www.chamber.ua/ or just look at them here.

They handed out goodie bags for the kids which contained rub on tattoes, 5 grande sized candy bars, some yo-yos, big bag of chips, small American flags, mardi gras beads, and some band-aids. What they needs band-aids in case they fall down after the sugar rush?? I just thought it was interesting contents.
The Nesquik people gave out free ice-cream, chocolate milk and bunny ear hats.

More pictures soon, plus we celebrated Keenan's 2nd birthday (Whoa- where'd the time go??) on Sunday with a small party. The theme was Disney's Cars (what-else, the kid is obsessed with McQueen??). Pictures to follow.
